About:

Q. When did you open your shop?
A. 1986. We’re celebrating our 30th Anniversary this year!

Q. What made you want to open a bike shop?
A. Our love of cycling and passion for puttingpeople on bikes.

Q. What kind of items do you sell in your shop?
A. We carry a full line of road, mountain, hybrid, commuter, and kids bikes from both Trek and Specialized. We also stock a full line of accessories from the leading brands in the industry, such as Genuine Innovations! We have the area’s largest Service Departments, with mechanics that have been with us since Day 1!We also stock the largest inventory of electric bikes in the Mid-Atlantic, from Trek, Specialized, Izip, and Haibike.Custom bikes from both Seven Cycles and Gunnar Cycles are also available.

Q. What kind of bike(s) do you ride?
A. Personally, road primarily, but have some of each, and I’m really having fun with my electric bikes for commuting! With over 100 employees our staff covers all genres of riding.

Q. Where are some of the best spots to ride in your area? Why?
A. My personal favorite is right outside my own door, in Clifton, VA.You’d never know you were a stones throw from DC, with roads that remind you of the countryside, with horses, barns, and more to enhance the scenery. I also like my urban commute to the Vienna location on my electric bike.It helps keep my handling skills sharpened! The DC area is littered with some of the best bike paths, both on and off road, in the nation. You can get almost anywhere by bike at this point. Our local advocacy groups such as Washington Area Bicyclist Association, and Mid-Atlantic Off-Road Enthusiasts have helped guarantee the success of major on and off-road trail expansion over the last few decades. The DC area has quickly become a major force in bicycle advocacy. Check out our Events Calendar on our website and come join one of our many shop group rides to check out the area and ride with some great people.

Q. Anything else you want to say to your fellow bicycling enthusiasts?
A. Spokes Etc. obviously loves selling bikes, but even more than that, we love selling cycling. From being active in the local community with clinics, classes, and ride support, to hosting big demo events with great food and beer-we love cycling and the comradery that cycling brings to all of us!
