Mountain bike racing is awesome. The High Cascades 100 in Bend, OR is no exception. Hundreds of men and women head out in the wee hours of the morning with temperatures in the 40’s. There are professionals who tear through the course, which is anything but flat, in under 8hrs. They fight it out prize money, for competition and bragging rights. There are experienced amateurs who give it everything they’ve got to come in near the nine hour mark.Maybe they’re working toward a professional career, maybe they’ve already reached their potential. Either way, they’re putting it all on the line. There are folks who come out just to see if they can possibly finish this potentially life changing event before the sun goes down and they get pulled from the course. At events like this one, which is top notch by the way, there is one goal shared by all: Finish.
